Pierre Gogois worked out of the shop at 19 Rue de Bièvre where Messy Nessy's Cabinet is currently located, a stone's throw from the Notre Dame, on the Rue de Bièvre, perpendicular to the Seine for over 15 years. He was one of the rare painters in modern-day Paris to both create and sell his work from a combination studio-gallery. Born in 1935, Gogois has had a long and accomplished career, first as an abstract painter in the 1960s before becoming aligned with the heritage of the Post-Impressionist school. His preferred subjects include Paris, especially the Seine at night, but he is also an esteemed painter of nudes and portraits. Gogois' work has been widely exhibited, in France and internationally. He also has a museum in the South of France.
