Antique Fishing Reels

A handsome little lineup of antique fishing reels—part tackle, part time capsule.

The star is the large mahogany-and-brass centrepin in the middle: a warm, worn wooden drum with softly oxidised fittings, the sort of reel that looks like it belonged to a patient Edwardian angler with a creel basket and a stubborn devotion to quiet rivers. Around it sit smaller reels in brass and blackened metal, all crisp screws, turned handles, and that pleasingly “engineered” heft—utilitarian objects made with the care of scientific instruments.

Together they have that gentleman’s outfitter / riverbank nostalgia vibe: practical, beautifully aged, and irresistibly decorative on a bookshelf, desk, or in a shadowbox—little machines that still carry the romance of early leisure, long afternoons, and the art of waiting.
